Hi! I'm Chris - writer, photographer, and co-producer of

You are invited to share my English world of
Digital Video Production
Writing

Theatre

My areas of creativity are centred around live entertainment and video production. I write for the stage, photograph theatrical productions, and have recently set up a Digital Video filming and editing partnership with Maurice Thorogood

So when and why did I begin to write?
What was the inspiration that finally released the verbal flow?

Writing has been a great hobby for me for as long as I can remember. Childish scribblings gradually evolved into a ceaseless stream of stories and diary-keeping. These early literary gems disappeared many years ago in the process of what is laughably called the "growing up" process. I didn't realise at the time just how important it is to preserve jottings, notes, stories and diaries. For the youngsters out there who commit their thoughts, aspirations and imagination to paper, I would offer one piece of advice.

NEVER throw any of those seemingly unimportant compositions away.
You'll only live to regret it!

It wasn't until I was about to turn 40 that I finally found someone who unwittingly provided me with an outlet for my writing. I went to see David Essex in concert at London's Royal Albert Hall. Less that two years later, I started to plan the production of a magazine devoted to David and his career. Imperial Wizard magazine became the realisation of a writing and publishing dream. I produced and circulated it single-handed from mid-1986 until the end of 1997. Since then I have issued the occasional Newsletter for fans whenever there has been anything new to report about David's current career moves. This Newsletter is now available here, and is updated regularly.

Thanks to David and his venture into the world of the traditional English Pantomime I met a talented actor, Maurice Thorogood. I first saw him on stage in playing the Pantomime Villain Bluebeard the Pirate opposite David Essex who was appearing in the title role of Robinson Crusoe .

Maurice encouraged me to widen my writing horizons, and has been a great help in teaching me how to script my work for the stage. With our pooled resources of ideas, writing, sense of humour, and years of acting and directing experience, we found ourselves writing in partnership.

To be properly appreciated, plays need to be acted rather than read. It is difficult to publish complete play scripts here. However, I do write material other than scripts, and hope you will enjoy the short pieces I have chosen as samples of my work.
